GREAT LAKES FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUES WCOFF Qualifying League Rules The World Championship of Fantasy Football is unquestionably the granddaddy of fantasy football high-stakes games. Started in 2002 by Emil Kadlec and Lenny Pappano, the WCOFF attracted 552 teams at $1,250 each during its first season and then reached 600 teams at $1,350 each in 2003. In 2004, the WCOFF expanded to 672 teams at $1,450 each. Each time, the grand prize was a check for $200,000. For those truly serious about fantasy football and for the opportunity to someday compete in this world renowned contest, this league is exactly what you are looking for. With 12 teams and a $160 entry fee, the winner of the GLFFL's WCOFF Qualifying League will earn the necessary funds for the WCOFF's $1,450 Championship Entrance Fee and $285 Events Fee to cover Friday night accommodations at the Hilton hotel and casino, a seat at the Saturday draft and a ticket to the Saturday night ESPN Zone party. In addition, this league's rules will follow the same format used by the WCOFF in order to get our owners accustomed to the way the contest will be played. Section I - General 1. The Franchise Fee is $160.00. 2. The conference will consist of one (1) division of twelve (12) teams. 3. Starting lineups will consist of 10 players:
4. Each team in the league will play all other teams in that league once over the first 11 weeks of the NFL season. That 11-game schedule will constitute the league's regular season. Section II - The Initial Draft 1. The draft will be held on-line. Teams will be formed in a draft that will be carried out in 1-12 then 12-1 order (known as 'serpentine' or 'switchback'). Drafts may be done in live draft format (4-6 hours on a chat site) or in email format (over several weeks). The order for all initial drafts is decided randomly. Section III - Scoring 1. The decimal scoring method will be combined (basic + performance) with points awarded as follows:
2. Points for kickoff and punt returns for touchdowns will only be awarded to the NFL Team, not individual players. 3. TDs scored on “fake” FGs or “fake” punts do NOT count as Defense/Special Teams scoring. TDs scored by the offensive team after a blocked FG or blocked punt do NOT count as a Defense/Special teams score. TDs scored on a double-turnover only count for the individual player who scored the TD, not for the team. 4. A double turnover is considered points for the recovering team’s defense and ST. Thus, an example, team A’s offense fumbles and team B’s defense recovers, but then fumbles the ball back to team A’s offense. In that scenario team A’s defense and special teams (along with team B’s defense and ST) are both awarded a fumble recovery. 5. Any and all points scored against a team are considered points scored against the special teams and defense. Thus, as an example, a turnover by the offense that is returned for a TD is considered as points scored against the special teams and defense. Section IV - Trading, Transactions and Lineups 1. The free agent system will be a “blind bidding” process. Each team will start with 1,000 free agent “dollars” for the season, and will be permitted to bid for free agents on a weekly basis. No team will be informed of any other team’s free agent bids until after the winning bids have been awarded. The team with the highest bid on any given player will be awarded that player. The amount of the winning bid will be deducted from the winning team’s free agent dollars. For each winning bid, the winning team must drop a player to make roster room for the free agent acquisition. If a team’s free agent dollars go to zero, that team will no longer be allowed to bid for the rest of the season. No bid will be accepted that is larger than a team's free agent dollars. All bids must be in increments of dollars (no cents). 2. PLEASE NOTE -- Leaving the dropped player field blank will cause the following to happen - the system will SKIP OVER anyone who would be in violation of the roster size restrictions by adding a player. You could have the highest bid on that player but you WILL NOT get your player if you fail to designate a drop at the same time. 3. The bidding process starts after the completion of Week 1 and ends with the transaction period prior to Week 12. Bids will be accepted until Friday at 10:59 pm ET in each of these weeks. You can select an unlimited number of Free Agents per week but you will need to drop a player for every potential player you add. There will be no free agent pickups after the completion of the regular season. 4. Conditional bids can also be offered. In the event you may lose out on a player, you can place conditional bid(s) for other players during the bidding time frame. The first conditional bid will become relevant only if you lose out on the first bid. Subsequent conditional bids will become relevant only if the previous conditional bid fails. Bids do not require conditional bids. Bids may have several sequential conditional bids, but may not include bidding on the same player more than once. 5. Tied Bids: If there is a tie in the blind bidding process, the team that receives the player will be determined in order by:
6. To minimize the possibility of collusion, there will be no trading allowed. 7. Owners are permitted to submit the names of starting players up until the respective player's game time. Once a game has begun, all players participating in that game are either locked in as a starter or as a bench player. Lineups should be submitted through the league's web site. 8. You will be responsible for fielding a complete team during bye weeks. No carryover points will be awarded for position players or NFL teams. Section VI - Playoffs and Payouts 1. In order to determine playoff seedings, the following tiebreaker system will be used:
2. Ten (10) of the twelve teams will qualify for the playoffs. In Week 12, the 9th and 10th seeds will face off, as well as the 7th and 8th seeds. Teams seeded 1 through 6 will receive a bye during week #12 of the NFL season. 3. The lowest advancing seed will play the 5th seed while the other team to advance will play the 6th seed. Teams seeded 1 through 4 will receive a bye during week #13 of the NFL season. 4. The lowest advancing seed will play the 3rd seed while the other team to advance will play the 4th seed. Teams seeded 1 and 2 will receive a bye during week #14 of the NFL season. 5. The lowest advancing seed will play the 1st seed while the other team to advance will play the 2nd seed. This action will take place during week #15 of the NFL season. 6. The winners will square off for the championship. This action will take place on week #16 of the NFL season. GLFFL will subtract $120 in administrative league fees and pay the champion the remaining $1,800. GLFFL is not responsible for the taxes on the prizes of the winner. 7. If there is a tie in the League Championship Game the tiebreakers are:
8. Here is why we are hosting a qualifying league. If you win this league and advance to next year's World Championship of Fantasy Football in Las Vegas, these are the prizes you could win: a. Individual
League Prizes: b. Championship Playoff Bracket:
World Champion of Fantasy Football = $200,000; air travel and
accommodations for 2 people to Jacksonville, Florida, on the weekend of
Super Bowl XXXIX; PLUS the crystal World Championship of Fantasy
Football trophy. c. Consolation Playoff Bracket: First = $3,000
Section VII - Miscellaneous Items 1. All starting lineups will consist of 10 players: 1 Quarterback, 2-3 Running Backs, 3-4 Wide Receivers, 1-2 Tight Ends, a Place Kicker and a Team Defense. The flex position allows teams to start a third RB, a fourth WR, or a second TE. 2. The WCOFF Qualifying League is a single-season league, not a keeper or dynasty league. 3. The act of "throwing games" (losing on purpose by turning in a lineup filled of players that normally would not play) is not tolerated in the Great Lakes Fantasy Football Leagues. We will revert your starting lineup back to a typical lineup for games that are tried to be thrown and further action will also take place (i.e. possible removal from the league without refund). In every instance
where a team has found to intentionally lose a game by submitting a
bogus lineup, that owner will immediately be REMOVED from the league in
question. When other instances arise, teams will be REMOVED the moment
the indiscretions are discovered, whether they happened this year or in
a previous year. 4. ACTIVE OWNER CLAUSE - If the commissioner has not heard from you (by phone, e-mail or web evidence) or your authorized representative for 3 consecutive weeks (no transactions or lineup changes) you may be declared an inactive owner, banished from the league, and your team repurchased by the league on a pro-rata basis and resold or dissolved. It is unfair to the active owners to have a disinterested owner. This becomes especially critical as the season winds down and you find yourself "out" of the running. You may appoint a designated representative in writing to the commissioner anytime prior to a known absence. 5. Conduct that is deemed detrimental to the league or to the GLFFL will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, posts and or emails that are harassing in nature and serve no legitimate purpose other than to cause discord within the league or the GLFFL organization. There is a difference between expressing viewpoints or likes/dislikes of a league or format and personal attacks toward fellow owners, the commissioner or the Board of Directors. Failure to comply may result in IMMEDIATE EXPULSION WITHOUT REFUND. In addition, attempts to negatively impact the integrity of the league (i.e. threatening or outright refusal to submit lineups, partaking in bogus trades, etc.) will result in an immediate expulsion, without refund, from the GLFFL. © Copyright 2007 Great Lakes Fantasy Football Leagues.
