Owner Profiles: Kirk Pavelich

Editor's Note: This is the second in a series of feature stories on the men who make up the Erie Fantasy Football League. In order to be featured, you must respond to the official Erie League survey.

Current commissioner Kirk Pavelich has always found it a challenge to run a franchise AND oversee the daily operations of the Erie League.

"Sometimes I wonder how successful I'd be if I didn't have the responsibility of running the league," Pavelich said. "But I don't care. Being commissioner has been a very enjoyable experience."

In addition to his fantasy football addiction, the 25-year-old also finds time to teach English and journalism at Stow-Munroe Falls High School. In fact, Pavelich said all owners should be thankful he holds this position.

"Where else would I get such easy access to a copy machine for the newsletters?" he said.

Currently owning an overall record of 43-40, Pavelich cites Keith Kuratko as his biggest rival and Jim White as the new owner most likely to win a championship this year.

As for his own fantasy league highlights, the Midnight Vigilantes owner pointed to his 1995 Erie League title and 1996 designation as Fantasy Football Weekly's Commissioner of the Year as his fantasy league highlights.

"I never even expected to be considered for the magazine's award," Pavelich said. "To win it speaks more for my fellow owners in this league than it does for any qualities I possess."

Pavelich resides in Stow with his wife Julie. According to the Erie commish for the past four years, she is a woman with a lot of patience when it comes to fantasy football.

"Sometimes she asks me how much longer she'll have to put up with my hobby," Pavelich said. "I usually tell her to look at the owners we have, who are in their forties or fifties, and see how much fun they're still having. In my mind, that about says it all."
