Won seven straight games at one point this season, before finishing 2-2 over final four games. First Erie League playoff appearance. Has missed the post-season in each of his two previous seasons, despite long-standing success with Dave Bell's Great Lakes Power and Great Lakes Too Leagues. |
Rzyczycki's second year in the Browns Conference resulted in a 6-6 record, with 1,077 points scored (89.8 per game). His all-time record now stands at 76-70 (.521), including an 8-9 post-season mark. Has qualified for the playoffs in eight of ten Erie League seasons. Backed into the playoffs by losing three of final four games. Captured division championships in '98 and '02. The Cosmic Monsters were Fantasy Bowl runners-up in 1994 and 1997. History: Tied, 1-1 (Long Shots, 85.85-79.3 in Week 7. |

of last five games. Has qualified for the playoffs in nine of 13 years.

Vince's all-time record now stands at 69-55 (.556), including a 6-6 post-season mark. Won two of their final three games. Has qualified for the playoffs in eight of nine years. Collins and the Penatrators come into the
playoffs with a 7-5 mark, having scored 1,020 points during the regular
season, an average of 85.1 per game. Collins' all-time record now stands at
13-14 (.481), including a 1-2 post-season mark. Have won four of their last
five games. Pulled off a huge first round upset last year, knocking out the
top-seeded Psychedelic B's, 102-78. Also participated for

A long-time member of the Great Lakes Power League, Gallagher has also participated for the past seven years in Dave Bell's Great Lakes Too League. Usually a contender year in and year out, Gallagher slumped in the GL Too last season, finishing 6-9 while serving as a co-owner with Erie League champion Paul Tanski. History: 1st Meeting (Did not play in '03). |
Atomic Punks GM Keith Kuratko missed the playoffs for just the second time in 14 years. However, the all-time wins leader in Erie League history took the time to handicap the first round All-American Conference matchups so he could provide his predictions for The Sports Page.
#8 Hard Attack @ #1 Midnight Vigilantes (-25.5 points)
Met during the regular season with the Vigilantes winning convincingly 86 to
67.95. Don't think Hard Attack has made any transactions or lineup changes for
the past 9 weeks but if they want a chance this week, I would insert Eddie
George against the Jets into the lineup over Garrison Hearst. Midnight
Vigilantes made another one of his trademark mid-season trades to solidify his
lineup by acquiring Ahman Green. Add Priest Holmes and the Vigilantes have a
potent 1-2 punch in the starting backfield. WRs have been inconsistent for the
Vigilantes but with Rod Smith coming on lately and if Harrison is healthy,
Vigilantes should be all right. The question is who to start at QB? Honestly, I
don't think it really matters as the Midnight Vigilantes come away as the
victors in this matchup. Lay the 25.5 and take the
Vigilantes.
#7 No Limit Ballers @ #2 Team Bud (-15.9 points)
Met twice during the regular season with Team Bud coming away with two
victories: 79 to 36.55 and 85.8 to 74.1. No Limit Ballers have solid WRs but I
would probably insert Moulds into the lineup over Shockey. Has Shockey even
played the past couple of weeks? Team Bud has the advantage at RB with
workhouse Stephen Davis carrying his team and his WRs are consistent. Bulger has
been a little shaky but still is better than anything the Ballers could put into
their lineup. I am expecting a big win for Team Bud, probably by 25 points, so
lay down the 15.9 as Team Bud advances.
#6 Psychedelic Bs @ #3 Hostile Omish (-20.3 points)
The Omish crushed the Bs during the regular season, 108.1-70.3 but I see this
matchup being a little closer this week. Could be a first round upset brewing
here. Don't let the 7-5 record fool you, the Omish may be the best team in the
All-American conference. Edging the Vigilantes for the overall scoring title
with a 100.6 avg. per game, it seemed everyone had their best game of the year
against the Omish as their average PA was at 86.9, highest for the All-American
playoff teams. The Omish have a slight, slight edge at QB and are going to need
another big day from Culpepper. Looks like Faulk is back to 100% and with
earlier trade for Shaun Alexander, the Bs upgraded their running attack. Omish
have two good RBs also, and need Ricky Williams to build off of his big Sunday
night game last week. The Omish's
top two receivers blow away any three receivers the Bs will put in their
starting lineup. The Omish should pull off the victory but don't be surprised if
the Bs pull off the upset. Take the 20.3 pts. that the Omish
are giving to the Bs, but the Omish will be moving on to the second round.
#5 LTP @ #4 Dayton Penetrators (-6.2 points)
Didn't meet during the regular season and according to LTP, "my team sucks" and
"it is one and out for the LTP crew." I don't really need to review this game
but I will anyway. Not to take anything away from LTP, but my team really sucks
and at least your team made the playoffs. I'm trying to win the toilet bowl so I
can say that my team is the best of the worst. Anyway, the Penatrators have a
distinct edge over LTP at RB but that is it. With McNair hurt and Kitna going
against the Steelers, LTP has the edge at
QB and if he sticks Robinson back into the starting lineup, I would take his
receivers over the Penatrators receivers any day of the week. I would also stick
either Candidate or Wheatley into the other RB position opposite Fred Taylor,
but that's me. Dayton is favored by 6.2, give me the points and LTP and DJ don't
be surprised to see your team in the second round.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
"MY TWO FAVORITE TEAMS ARE THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES AND WHOEVER BEATS THE MIDNIGHT VIGILANTIES. GO BUCKS! PAV, GO BLOW!" Posted on the league message board by Team Bud GM Jody Barth.
"Hey Tard, since there is only one team that can play Pav this week and this is the final regular season game, your favorite two teams are OSU and Titlebound Two. I know looking up who was playing Pav this week was too much for you, but don't show how low your IQ is by documenting it." Psychedelic B's owner Bryan Vince's message board response to Barth.
"Why, does Vince have to take a shot a me? The quote was WHOEVER meaning and including the playoffs. Since Pav is the number one seed and everyone wants to knock him out. Why do I have to explain myself? I.Q. hmmmm! I once read that if you shave your legs and arms it will make you look big and strong. No, I did not read that. Vince, showed me his legs and arms after he shaved them and that was his reasoning behind it." Barth's response to Vince.
"It has been fun this year but my team sucks... I am going to back in to the playoffs, losing two of my last three and losing to the Masons! Great play on my part, Smith and not Wheatley. I go on record as saying a few trades this year were the dumbest f----- trades I have seen in years! I think for the playoffs, (since it is one and out for the LTP crew) I am going to pull a Nunney and just stop looking at my team and leave the lineup alone! Good luck to all.” LTP GM Don Jones, disgusted with his team's play down the stretch, in a recent message board post.
"That really hurts." Masons owner John Thiem's response to Jones.
"Many of you have forgotten that I only drafted this year's team and left the day-to-day decisions up to Kurt Gielink of Solon H.S. Obviously, he understood that the mistake I was making for the past seven years was actually trying to win games. Our strategy became pretty simple, don't screw anything up and it'll all work out in the end. Well, I'm back in the playoffs and I've got a great strategy to upset Pav, then again now that I think about it, I'll just stick with the same line-up that's been posted. Are any of my guys on bye week this week??? Also, I have heard rumors about bad trades by Kurt and me this year - I only made one and Keith finished last, sorry dude. By the way, who the hell gave Pav Ahman Green and Brad Johnson????? Vinnie, what Mikey and I do on our private time is our business and currently in the videotape collection of Michael Jackson so if you really need to know call his lawyers. Thanks to those of you who wished me luck and congratulations on the election, I really appreciate it. Good luck to most of you in the playoffs!!!" Hard Attack GM Joe Nunney's response to allegations he threw a Week 10 game to the Hostile Omish. Nunney's squad qualified for the playoffs for just the second time in his career by winning their final two games.
