Stonehenge continues to climb international ranks, Barth speaks
Jamie
Roush (pictured right) and Stonehenge won their third consecutive game last
week, keeping Paul Labonte's Shadow Bandits winless with a 94.7 to 53.05
victory. Stonehenge, currently ranked 53rd in the world (click to see the
International Fantasy Football Computer
Rankings), are averaging 111.8 per game over the first three weeks.
Other Erie League teams that are still undefeated are Mike Kuratko's Hostile Omish, who snuck by brother Keith's Atomic Punks 73.85 to 73.50, and Dave Bell's Bonecrushers, who knocked off Sam Profio's Donikers-DTL 77.80 to 63.45).
One thing that has been noticeably absent at the start of this year's Erie League season has been the traditional smack talking which has so often been a trademark of the league. In an attempt to get things rolling in that regard, Team Bud GM Jody Barth decided to welcome Ray Urich and Dave Pastir (pictured below left), co-owners of the Deerslayers, to the league.
"Deerslayers
A.K.A. DEERMOUNTERS -- Looking through the owner's bios I came across a picture
of two hillbillies mounting two deers from behind," Barth said. "Bambi season is
soon upon us so as a public safety message from Bob Barker, 'Please remember to
have yourselves spayed or neutered to help control the Bambi population.' You
guys have officially taken the E.F.F.L hillbilly crown away from JESTER X (Will
Van Bibber)."
In other news, Titlebound Two co-owners Brett Harney and J.P. Dougherty shocked the league after week two when they dealt All-Pro quarterback Peyton Manning to the Psychedelic B's for number two WR Rod Gardner.
"Pretty bogus I thought but
I can't blame Vince," said one disgruntled owner. "That should be the nail in
the coffin for Titlebound to not be invited back next season. First, they don't
show up to the draft and then they trade a top tier QB for a #2 receiver. I
don't know what they were thinking."

Meanwhile,
commissioner Kirk Pavelich (pictured left and right) has found plenty of free
time to try his hand at other endeavors with the current lack of trash talking
present during this Erie League season.
"Norwalk, Ohio is not exactly a hotbed of activity," Pavelich said. "We do unique things out here as forms of entertainment. I need to stay busy since the guys in the Erie League aren't giving me much material to put together this year's Sports Pages."
Top Week Three performers included: QB Jake Plummer, who totaled 28.65 points yet sat on the bench for both Captain Tripps and the Godfather, QB Patrick Ramsey, who scored 28.3 points and would have clinched victories for both the Atomic Punks and Donikers-DTL had he been in the starting lineup, and RB Priest Holmes, who netted 27.6 points as a starter for the Midnight Vigilantes and Stonehenge.
Just for your information, the web site allows you to make changes to your starters up until the kickoff of the 1 p.m. games. Your best bet is to submit a lineup early in the week and then to watch all the late breaking news to see if you need to make any changes. This software allows you to do it right up until the time the first games start. Therefore, always consider the last starting lineup you receive from an opponent to be the final official one.
To get your own smack talk printed on The Sports Page, either send an e-mail to the commissioner (KPAVELICH@neo.rr.com) or you can do it yourself on the league's message board. Go to http://football5.myfantasyleague.com/2003/mb/board_show.pl?bid=200329111 , to talk some trash in this fashion.
