Erie League set to kick off 14th season!

Welcome to the 2003 Erie Fantasy Football League Season! It's once again that time of year where football is right around the corner and preparations are being made for the coming months.

The All-American Conference Auction will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2003 (at 11 a.m.) while the Browns Conference Auction will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2003 (at 11 a.m.). Both events will be held for the first time at Damon's in Kent, Ohio, located at 1935 State Route 59. Please email me at KPAVELICH@neo.rr.com if you need directions. The NFL Season will kick off just four days later on Thursday, September 4th when the Jets and Redskins battle.

As a current owner in the league, you are being given a first chance to reserve your spot for the 2003 season. With the demand to get in the Erie League high and in an effort to prevent a repeat of the fiasco last August when owners were being recruited on draft night, owners will be required to send in a downpayment of $50 to guarantee a spot in this year's league. Here are the ways to take care of that...

Sending a check or PayPal by Friday, August 1st, 2003 will guarantee your spot in this year's Erie Fantasy Football League.

If you plan to declare a franchise player or players (one player can be kept at any value for an additional $20, one more can be kept for 5 units or less for an additional $10), you have until the day of the draft to make your selection and pay the commissioner.

As some of you know, I have also expanded my fantasy football business to the internet, as I have founded GLFFL - Great Lakes Fantasy Football Leagues. The Erie League is still my top priority, but I am also now running 18 leagues on the internet for players ranging from California to Singapore. Check us out if you get the chance. Because of this business venture, I'll still need some asst. commissioner help for transaction nights like I had last year from Joe Nunney and Jamie Roush. I will give those guys first chance to do it again and earn the discount and then I'll open it up to all of you if they aren't interested.

Also, if anyone would like to get a free meal from Damon's, I need someone to serve as auctioneer for both the All-American Conference draft on the 30th and the Browns Conference draft on the 31st. I may be able to serve as auctioneer on the 31st but I'm trying to get someone else lined up in case I have to draft for another player. Please let me know ASAP if you might be available for either of these days.

If you have any questions about money deadlines, the franchise player procedure, or anything else, feel free to call me at 419-660-1243 or e-mail me at KPAVELICH@neo.rr.com. If you know you are not playing this year, please let me know as soon as possible.

The scoring system will again be combined and decimal (points for touchdowns and yards) so prepare accordingly. Good luck! See you at Auction 2003!

Kirk Pavelich - Erie Fantasy Football League Commissioner
